Almost 55,000 homes have reportedly been impacted by the storms, with their items and dwellings ruined.

Persistent rains over the past week have compounded the already dire situation of the vast number of displaced civilians in the territory, as reported by relief groups.

"Terrible" Night Brings Serious Dangers

A representative detailed the recent storm as "horrendous", with downpours so severe that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.

"The recent weather was exceptionally difficult for the families. The heavy rains were so intense... And the gusts were so strong," said the spokesperson.

There is grave anxiety that children living in tents in damp clothing will contract hypothermia and additional illnesses.

Deaths and Widespread Loss

Medical officials have stated that one baby has passed away from the cold and at least 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures caused by the harsh conditions.

Further statements indicate a increased number of casualties. Officials said that several homes had collapsed completely and scores had been partly destroyed.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 emergency shelters severely flooded.
  • Many people compelled to move once more.

Assistance Efforts Considered Insufficient

Agencies have escalated distribution of tarpaulins, bedding and clothes since the ceasefire commenced, but they have said there is still not enough aid getting in.

"Officials are working relentlessly to deliver that assistance and to hand it out, but the size of the requirements is so immense that we are faced with thousands of families and minors who are genuinely struggling every night," stated one spokesperson.

Ongoing Challenges and Truce Provisions

The next stage of the agreement involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the pullback of troops, and other provisions.

Relief organizations have underscored the need for "expanded and ongoing relief to respond to pressing and future needs."

The conflict was sparked by an assault in late 2023. Subsequent military operations have resulted in a significant number of fatalities in the area, as per official figures.
