That Grisly Animated Movie Ending That Stays With Audiences

Out of all the mature cartoon movies I have ever viewed, no other has stuck with me quite like the terror-laced finale of the viscerally violent as well as deeply subversive film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, this Spain-based filmmaker crafted a grim, somber , often savage world with several minor , desolate glimmers of hope.

Although The Unicorn Wars appears as it came from an impulse to push animation further, the filmmaker stated that it was actually an attempt to convey a widespread, multicultural message concerning “the shared root of every conflict.”

That message is communicated by means of a band of brightly hued teddy bears , clearly based on a famous series of cuddly figures.

Maturing in a society centered on warmongering and the war machine, numerous these animals are fixated on slaughtering unicorns, thanks to a sacred text that tells them they used to be masters of the forest, until the horned beings forced them out.

Some did not entirely fallen for the brainwashing, and choose to try out narcotics and fornicate outdoors.

Unlike their gentle equivalents, these bright beings have visible sexual organs , definite libidos.

For one especially vicious, skeptical animal, Bluey, the war against the unicorns becomes a path toward dominance — and specifically to authority over his more tender, kinder brother Tubby.

This bear acts as a tormentor and an obvious antisocial figure , and when fear takes over his unit and kills his comrades sequentially, he takes increasingly influence personally, via progressively gory, destructive ways.

At the same time, these mythical beings are enduring their own nightmare, through a growing, harmful creature in their habitat.

“In the early stages, it seems like a comedy,” the filmmaker said. “But then it evolves into a more dramatic and sorrowful movie. And in the finale, it transforms into a horror film.”

The Unicorn Wars starts out similar to among the playful films by an iconic animator, which find a wicked pleasure in permitting animated figures swear, engage in violence, or have intimate relations.

Subsequently it evolves into something more like a darker film by that same director, including ever more visual gore , a noticeable relation to the actual tragedy of war.

In the finale, it’s an outright Grand Guignol carnage.

The fear that turns the film a perfect Halloween movie kicks in well before than that description suggests.

Unicorn Wars is ideal for the hardcore gorehounds, for fans of extreme cinema who want to view a film they haven’t ever viewed until now, and who can handle a narrative that pulls unflinching brutality.

Watch it with the lights off with no disturbances, and the conclusion will burrow deep within you and stay with you.
