Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the gravel trap, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending corner leading to the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
