Turning to the American Football Conference, the playoff picture remains completely chaotic. Had it not been for committing turnover errors a manageable matchup against Pittsburgh, they’d be sitting at 9–1 with the best record. In the prior year, they were old and slow. Denver Broncos

Denver stands at also 8-2, and the perception remains that they're barely surviving. Their quarterback has shown inconsistency, and the offense plodding, while the defensive unit provides most of the responsibility. Absent adequate signal-calling, the Broncos won't frighten any playoff team. Los Angeles remains nearby in the AFC West with seven wins, however, health issues affecting their protection unit will present challenges for extended playoff success.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Then we have the Steelers, somehow still leading the Northern division even after suffering a decisive loss to Los Angeles during prime time. Their scoring margin remains negative, their defensive unit frequently falters, with their quarterback's restrictions at this stage of his career regularly manifest. They’re 5–4 and holding on, however, the Ravens, with Lamar Jackson healthy again with manageable games ahead, are on a three-game win streak. This development isn't entirely shocking that the Ravens have pulled within a game of the Steelers, but how rapidly this occurred represents criticism toward Pittsburgh's fluctuating form. Considering the Ravens opened the season 1-5 and still look like capable of division victory speaks volumes regarding the entire AFC.

Established Contenders

The Ravens' form part among three elite teams – together with Bills and Chiefs – driven by elite quarterback play, that would continue to generate the greatest concern for opponents if they qualified. They represent undesirable playoff matchups, yet Kansas City and Buffalo persistently undermine themselves.

Bills Struggles

Previously, the Bills felt confident following victory over Kansas City. On Sunday they suffered among the season's worst defeats this year. They didn't simply fail versus the Dolphins; they were embarrassed, dropping a 30-13 road game. This represented Miami's initial victory against Buffalo in several seasons.
