Former Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
