This location has been described as an "environmental crisis".
Journalist inspected the scene and stated the mound appeared to be "20ft high at least".

Fly-tippers have deposited a mountain of waste in a field in Oxfordshire.

The "environmental crisis occurring in plain sight" is approximately 150m (490ft) extending and 6m (20ft) high.

The massive mound has been discovered in a open area alongside the River Cherwell near Kidlington.

A local MP brought up the situation in parliament, declaring it was "posing risk of an ecological catastrophe".

Conservation group said the unlawful rubbish dump was established approximately a recently by an organised crime group.

"This is an environmental catastrophe unfolding in public view.

"Daily that passes raises the risk of poisonous drainage reaching the aquatic network, polluting animals and threatening the condition of the complete river basin.

"Regulatory bodies must act now, not in months or years, which is their standard response period."

Access ban had been established by the Environment Agency.

It is hard to distinguish any particular items of garbage as it appears to have been shredded with dirt blended.

A portion of the garbage from the uppermost part of the mound has collapsed and is now only five meters from the waterway.

The River Cherwell is a tributary of the River Thames, which means it travels through Oxford before meeting the Thames.

The MP requested the government for assistance to eliminate the illegal tip before it caused a fire or was washed away into the river system.

Speaking to MPs on this week, he stated: "Lawbreakers have discarded a massive amount of illegal polymer rubbish... totaling hundreds of tonnes, in my constituency on a floodplain alongside the River Cherwell.

"Water heights are rising and heatmaps demonstrate that the garbage is also warming, elevating the danger of combustion.

"Environmental authorities stated it has inadequate funding for compliance, that the estimated expense of clearance is greater than the whole annual funding of the regional government."

Cabinet member commented the administration had assumed responsibility for a underperforming disposal business that had resulted in an "widespread problem of unlawful fly-tipping".

She advised representatives the authority had served a restriction order to prevent further admission to the location.

In a statement, the organization said it was examining the situation and appealed for evidence.

It said: "We acknowledge the public's concern about occurrences like this, which is why we take action against those responsible for environmental offenses."

A recently published study determined efforts to tackle serious environmental offenses have been "severely under-prioritised" even though the problem becoming larger and more complex.

Government advisors suggested an separate "comprehensive" investigation into how "prevalent" waste crime is dealt with.
