Beloved Star Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
American performer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved programs like "Friends", "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.
The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles recently after undergoing cancer treatment beginning in 2022, according to news outlets.
"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives said in a message.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
A Notable TV Career
Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he played the lead character's sibling.
He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.
In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, like:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- "House"
His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Off-Screen Life
Beyond his television work, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.
"He taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils during his career and it's nearly impossible to find a person anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he shared publicly.
Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
